Girl Scouts of Utah is actively hiring a Finance Specialist. In this role, you will Coordinate all elements of the accounts receivable processes and reporting to ensure the delivery of accurate, timely and efficient work product.
Accountabilities
- Maintain accounts payable and invoices, including entering items into database, printing and mailing checks, and filing / scanning documents.
- Assist payroll functions including timesheet reporting for staff members and processing with third party payroll vendor.
- Oversee troop bank account creation, audit and closure for council.
- Set up and order credit cards for new employees in the credit card portal
- Process ACH and online payments
- Assist with entries in Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge for donations as needed.
- Facilitate maintenance of general ledger and preparing journal entries.
- Ensure the timely reconciliation of cash receipt documentation and reports.
- Reconcile and process daily cash deposits, receipts and reports.
- Prepare invoices for payment checking on validity, receipt of merchandise, and proper authorization.
- Reconcile and process credit card reports and staff expense receipts.
- Assist in the reconciliation of the annual cookie sale and follow up on collection matters.
- Research information for non-sufficient funds checks and provide to check collection agency.
- Obtain and maintain W-9 and W-4 forms.
- Provide backup with data entry, including documentation in Salesforce (VS 2.0).
- Address general finance requests and GL inquiries
- Process improvement and project management

Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Two years related office experience in accounting or finance with demonstrated ability to handle high-volume tasks with accuracy.
- Associate's degree preferred; related experience considered.
- Strong data entry and keyboarding skills. Experience in alpha and numeric data entry using a variety of specialized formats. Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exhibit strong planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload, while managing multiple deadlines
- Possess the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information both internal and external.
- Proficient in Microsoft office, database management, email, and internet applications. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Must have prior database experience. Knowledge of Abila software or other non-profit accounting database helpful.
- Ability to work as a full-time, non-exempt staff member. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
- Ability to sit at a workstation for up to 2 hours at a time.
- Ability to view a computer screen for up to 2 hours at a time.
