The Development Specialist will play a key role in enhancing the philanthropic efforts for Girl Scouts of Utah by performing a wide variety of administrative and clerical support tasks related to the entry and maintenance of donor records and data, support of the donor stewardship process, maintenance of donor database, generation of reports, and assistance with development efforts including events, meetings, and sub-committees.

 In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Maintain accurate database and operations to support the strategies of the fundraising plan.
  • Direct all aspects of the fund development database (Raiser's Edge) including information entry, data auditing, monitoring of database integrity, elimination of duplicate records, maintenance of users and security settings for the system, and remain up to date on new developments and features of the database.
  • Coordinate and ensure timeliness of donor stewardship and gift processing through database functions, batch documentation, reporting, generating gift acknowledgement letters, invoices, pledges and coordinated mailings.
  • Maintain files and required donor reporting. Code and file financial materials according to established records management procedures.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of departmental fundraising events or other council-wide events. This includes maintaining reservations, in-kind donation information, and other data-related needs.
  • Answer questions and support the needs of the supporters of Girl Scouts of Utah.
  • Serve as a liaison to vendors such as mail house, wealth screening or address update services.
  • Purchase, receive and store the office supplies ensuring that basic supplies for department are available.
  • Provide staff support to fund development sub-committees and to volunteers in order to effectively execute the council's fundraising plans. Includes distributing meeting materials, taking minutes, and set-up and clean-up for all meetings.
  • Reconcile with finance department to ensure all gift transactions are accurate.
  • Represent Girl Scouts of Utah in the community in a professional and personable manner.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.
  • Job duties may be subject to change pursuant to the activities of the department and the organization as a whole.

 Ideal Candidates will have the following experience:

  • Minimum two years' experience in fundraising, events, or closely related field.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in fundraising.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, ability to work independently and prioritize projects with time-sensitive deadlines, gather and analyze information skillfully, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to achieve results in partnership with others and work effectively in a team atmosphere.
  • Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to speak clearly in positive or negative situations.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to edit work for correct spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively, and ability to read and interpret written information.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft office, databases, email, internet applications, and internet research. Preference of two years' experience in using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge.
  • Demonstrated experience using fundraising databases and spreadsheets, including input, records maintenance, query design, and report production.
  • Strong analytic skills, high level of accuracy, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
  • Ability to work as a full-time team member, which will include some evenings and weekends
