Position Title:         Outreach Program Coordinator

Reports to:              Outreach Specialist

FLSA Status:          Overtime eligible; Part-time position up to 18 hours per week

Summary:

The Outreach Program Coordinator will work on a part-time basis (up to 18 hours per week) September through May at various locations through the Salt Lake Valley.  In this role, you will be expected to work collaboratively with Afterschool Program Directors to deliver weekly outreach programming to girls of all ages. This is done with the objective of providing an atmosphere for growth in which girls will learn to develop their abilities as individuals and as group members through the Girl Scout program. The Program Coordinator will provide support and guidance to after school program staff while providing age appropriate troop programming to girl participants Hours will be flexible and based on the individual afterschool programs, but approximately Monday through Thursday from 2:30pm to 5:30pm and Friday from 12:30pm to 5pm. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Contribute to the pluralistic goals of the council, by working with volunteers and site directors, to reflect the interest and needs of persons of different races, cultures, and religions.
  • Enhance the role of Girl Scouts in the community by interpreting and promoting Girl Scouting to afterschool programs
  • Develop effective relationships (parents, teachers, site staff, etc.) to assure continuity of Girl Scout program at assigned sites.
  • Identify potential volunteers to assist at assigned sites.
  • Supplement and enrich group programming and provide support for curriculum development as needed to meet the needs of group members at each site.
  • Facilitate (deliver) program curriculum as outlined and assigned.
  • Maintain site registration, attendance, record keeping and program evaluations; and communicate with site coordinators any schedule or program changes.
  • Advise Outreach Specialist of site development and stability.
  • Carry out site activities to insure and protect the safety of all participants.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm in working with girls.
  • Understanding and commitment to pluralism.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and exceptional organization skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual preferred, but not required.
  • High level of professionalism; self starter with ability to work independently, calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Good working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming, and demonstrated commitment to the mission of Girl Scouts

Essentials Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel to various work and meeting locations.
  • Dependable transportation is a must.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel throughout Utah approximately 30% of the time.
  • Ability to sit at a workstation for up to 2 hours at a time.
  • Ability to view a computer screen for up to 2 hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 40 pounds.
  • English Preferred Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • A passion for working with women and developing their leadership skills.
  • A commitment and passion for the Girl Scout mission and an ability to effectively promote and communicate the Mission and Vison of Girl Scouts to internal and external stakeholders.
